What's New

The fair-weather is finally here!  Come on in and get all the information you need to get those outdoor projects completed.

National Volunteer Week is celebrated April 27 through May 3, and we would like to shout out a giant THANK YOU! to all of our dedicated volunteers who help make the library run so smoothly.  They are:  Alma Reitz, Phyllis Bertin, Mary Ann Way, Nancy Springman, Elsie Emick, Dan Cotner, Clara Wall, and Robert Cressman.  If you see them on the street, make sure you tell them "thanks" for volunteering at the library.  We couldn't do what we do without them!

Donations

A huge thank you to these generous donors of the Library:  Beta Sigma Phi Epsilon Eta Chapter, Springs, Elsie Emick, Thelma White, and Lisa Cox.

Thanks to the generous donations of Dan Doughton, we have several new BOOKS-ON-CD which include Ludlum's Janson Directive, Patterson's Double Cross, Silva's The Messenger, Iles' Third Degree, and Baldacci's Camel Club.  Stop in now and pick one up to listen to on your next trip.

A donation was made in memory of Beverly Christman by her niece Susan Nath with Where Are You Now? by Mary Higgins Clark and Honor Thyself by Danielle Steel chose.  Phyllis Moore donated a book she wrote titled Maxi's Choice in memory of her cousin Edna McBride.  Didi Yunginger donated the book Hummingbirds in memory of her mother and author Julianne Gehman.

Recent Purchases

Getting hard to read the small print?  Stop in the Library and take a gander at our new large print titles.  Enjoy a romantic story?  Try Lisa Kleypas Blue-Eyed Devil or James Patterson's Sundays At Tiffany's.  In the Librarian's pick of the month, Mary Higgins Clark's Where Are You Now?, Carolyn is determined to find her brother even though he told her not to look for him.  Read and find out what her brother is hiding.  Get the dish on what really happens behind the Oscar's red carpet in Amada Goldberg's Celebutantes.  Eagle searches for his ex-whie whose middle name is trouble in Stuart Woods' Santa Fe Dead.  Deb Wesselmann's Captivity is an original tale about a woman who runs a chimp sanctuary and learns that chimps may be more humane than we are.  Harlan Coben's new tale Hold Tight asks just how far we should pry into our children's lives.  Sit back and relax with a fresh story from the women on Blossom Street in Debbie Macomber's Twenty Wishes.  Other new fiction includes Carol Higgins Clark's Zapped;  J Harris' The Girl With No Shadow - the sequel to Chocolat; Sue Henry's Degrees Of Separation - an Alaskan mystery; Jeffrey Archer's Prisoner Of Birth - a patron told us it should not be missed; Iris Johansen's Quicksand - a forensic thriller, and Jude Devereaux's Secrets.

We have recently purchased several new titles in our pregnancy collection including Naturally Healthy First Foods For Baby, Understanding Your Moods When You're Expecting, and The Complete Organic Pregnancy.  History buffs will enjoy For Liberty And Glory - Washington, Lafayette, and Their Revolutions; American's Founders; and Dinner At Mr Jefferson's: 3 men, 5 great wines, and the evening that changed America.  Baseball fans will like Steve Garvey's My Bat Boy Days - Lessons I Learned From The Boys Of Summer - Mantle, Robinson, Koufax, etc.  David Sheff's Beautiful Boy has been getting a lot of attention lately.  In it, read about a father's journey through his son's meth addiction.  Thinking about renovating the home?  Don't forget to stop at the Library and pick up the latest books on kitchen, bathroom, deck, and patio design.  For the gardeners we have Stone Landscaping and Garden Structures - Gazebos, Arbors, Trellises, and Pergolas.  New biographies include Willie Nelson, Williams Shatner's Up Till Now, Valerie Bertinelli's Losing It, and Barbara Walters' Audition.  Other non-fiction includes fly fishing books; Blogs, Wikis, MySpace, and More; Mistaken Identity; Two Families, One Survivor; and the best seller The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.

For beginning readers we have The Prince Won't Go To Bed, Clarabella's Teeth, Never Take A Shark To The Dentist, Laura Numeroff's The Jellybeans and The Big DanceSleepy Places perfect for naptime, and K McMullan's I'm Bad about big ole' T-Rex.  Boys will absolutely love Jon Scieszka's Trucktown Smash! Crash! filled with bright photos of loveable truck characters.  For chapter readers, we have Stink And The Great Guinea Pig Express, Shel Silverstein's silly poetry collection Don't Bump The Glump, and E Colfer's Airman.  If your children enjoyed the movie Nim's Island, they might like to read the continuing story of Nim At Sea.  Set your teens reading with Meg Cabot's Princess Mia, Getting Lost With Boys - a perfect summer romance, and James Petterson's Maximum Ride: The Final Warning.  Perfect for the graduating seniors, Elsie Emick donated Maria Shriver's And One More Thing Before You Go.

New DVDs include the hilarious ventriloquist Jeff Dunham; Pregnancy For Dummies; La Vie En Rose; There Will Be Blood with Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis; and Charlie Wilson's War with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.  For the family, we have Alvin And The Chipmunks and the fantasy The Seeker.
